Kauri’s zijn bomen in Nieuw Zeeland die heel oud en heel hoog kunnen worden. De meeste zijn gekapt door de blanken . Maori’s gebruikten het hou pas als de boom omgevallen was. Gelukkig worden ze nu in natuurgebieden weer aangeplant, maar het zal nog lang duren voor ze weer zo groot zijn als vroeger. De vogeltjes zijn de waaierstaarten die je als je wandelt voordurend begeleiden.
Kauri' are trees in New Zealand that can become very old and high. Most of them are cut down by the immigrants. Maori' only used the wood when it had fallen. It is good that they are planted now again in nature areas, but it will take a long time till they are as big as they used to be. The birds are fantails, they accompany you often when you walk.

De stukjes stof zijn met hoopjes zigzag steken vast gezet, dit lijkt op de pukkeltjes op de echte schors
The bits of fabric are fastened with zigzag stiches, that resembles the pimples at the real bark
