Lapita Expeditie

In 2008 werden twee etnische catamarans gebouwd op de Filipijnen. Ze zeilden langs Nieuw Guinea, de Bismarck archipel, de Salomon-eilanden en de Santa Cruz eilanden naar Tikopia en Anuta. De route waarlangs de Lapita-cultuur zich over Oceanie heeft verspreid. De boten werden aan de bevolking geschonken, zodat ze weer contact met de buureilanden konden hebben. Er werd deels op de oude Polynesische manier genavigeerd met sterren en golfpatronen.

In 2008 two etnic catamarans were build at the Philipines. They sailed along New Guinee, the Bismarck archipel, the Salomons, the Sata Cruz Islands to Tikopia and Anuta. They were given to the locals so that they could  sail to the neighbour islands. The navigation was partilly done in the tradional Polenesian way with waves and stars.
